I received some sympathy regarding yesterday’s post, so I thought I would quickly mention that today went much, much better. I had two refreshingly productive meetings. Then I helped a developer with a programming problem that had him confounded. It was nice to begin the weekend on a high note.
I was awake relatively early this morning, and as I had little to eat in my apartment, it somehow crossed my mind to walk—yes, walk—to my nearest Starbucks and get myself something to eat and a coffee to wash it down with. I’m currently experiencing my first dust storm since moving to the Valley. I’d heard about them, but I’d never seen one. I turned on the evening news about a half-hour ago, and the storm was the top story. They showed an aerial shot of the Valley, and I could see the wall of dust approaching skyscrapers I could identify as being near my home. I looked out the window, and sure enough, the wall was approaching my place. Ten minutes later, it was here. I’m not sure how to describe it. The sky is full of dust, and there is a tremendous amount of wind, but there is still some visibility, maybe a half-mile or so. The news is saying it’ll be over in a half-hour or so.
