The rumors you’ve heard about me are true. Although I may occasionally come off as an independently wealthy trust-fund playboy, the fact is, I do have to work for a living. After a delightful 89-day break, I went back to work today. It was sort of an 11th-hour deal. Things had been in the works for about a week, but I didn’t find out until 6 last night that I was going back to work at 8 this morning. Several months ago, I wrote about being carded when trying to buy beer just after having my hair cut. Well, today it happened again, after having my hair cut yesterday. The stylist joked about how much younger I looked when I left, but I still can’t believe someone would waste his time carding a man with gray hair, not matter how it was cut. I think the cashier at the Circle K is retarded.
The last several days have been really quiet for me, with no work to do and no out-of-town trips planned. In fact, all I really did this week was jump-start my sister’s car and interview for a contract at a state agency. As a result, I’ve been watching a lot of movies lately. To keep my mind occupied, I thought I’d review my recent viewings, all of which are films I saw for the first time. I’m presenting them in the order I viewed them. I was walking through the plant department at the Ikea in Tempe earlier today. The manager’s special this week is Japanese maple. I was not the only one who did a double-take as I passed by. From a short distance, it sure looked like something else.
